Anti-inflammatory golden milk

Do you suffer from digestive inflammation or painful joints? Chronic pain and inflammation can be really challenging! No one can see it, but you can feel it and it can really affect your mood, sleep, and ability to function normally.

Golden milk is a super soothing and healing drink that can help reduce pain and inflammation, or it can be used as an overall health tonic. It contains turmeric, which is an anti-inflammatory superhero – turmeric contains medicinal constituents zingiberene, turmerone, and curcumin which are highly anti-inflammatory. Give it a go and enjoy the therapeutic benefits!

Golden milk recipe

Step 1: Make the golden paste

Ingredients:
½ cup turmeric powder
1 cup of filtered water (add ½ cup extra if needed)
1 ½ tsp ground black pepper (this is to increase the absorption of curcumin which is the active inflammatory ingredient in turmeric)
5 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil

Directions:

Mix 1 cup of water with turmeric powder in a pot and gently heat, stirring for 5-10 minutes until it turns into a thick paste (add the additional ½ cup of water if it is too thick and gluggy).

Add black pepper and oil and continue to stir until everything is mixed.

Allow the paste to cool. Store in a jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Step 2: Make the golden milk

Directions:

Mix ¼ teaspoon of golden paste into a pot with 1 cup of unsweetened almond, oat, or coconut milk.

Add 1 teaspoon of coconut oil and heat gently but do not boil.

Add a touch of honey to taste – enjoy!
